Document Management System
Documents and Folders
GBCDMS is capable of managing documents and folders exactly the same as an operating system manages a file system on your hard drive. However, it offers extra metadata, such as random attributes, keywords, author and description. The system uses a strange method for editing documents, as the original one is kept intact while revisions are created with each edit job. Each document has at least one version which is the actual content of the document. Any update will create a new version, while keeping all the old ones.
Meta data, Searching
A document is more than a file. It has extra metadata, can have any number of versions, be related to other documents, may even have attached files, has access rights and can be run through a workflow before it is released. The most common document types like PDF, MS Word, and MS Excel can be indexed for full text search.
The third and most important feature of GBCDMS is the built-in workflow engine that allows for random, self-defined workflows. It is much more advanced than the simple workflow management system implemented in GBCDMS, which requested review and approval of documents before there were published.
